Chris Deakin | Director
As a co-founder of deakin, Chris has more than 23 years of expansive experience in design, management and installation of detailed and bespoke major rail projects; from light rail, heavy rail, underground metro and high-speed rail through to systems engineering, permanent way design and construction.
The projects span the UK, Australia and Southeast Asia, with key major projects being West Coast Route Modernisation (England, UK), Suburban Rail Loop (Melbourne, Australia), KVMRT Line 3 (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), High-Speed Rail (Singapore) and Cross-Island Line (Singapore).
In parallel to the design experience, the last 12 years has seen Chris at the forefront of industry, leading, developing, and mentoring people and teams in the evolving digital realm, pushing boundaries and innovating using spatial data and digital engineering.
Lorraine Yip | Director
As a co-founder of deakin, Lorraine brings 25 years of comprehensive experience in architecture, interior design, design management, procurement planning and project delivery. With a career based across Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Shanghai, Beijing, and now Singapore, she has successfully led teams in delivering projects across APAC, the United States, Europe, and the Middle-East.
Driven by a unified commitment to wellness design, environmental sustainability, and social responsibility, Lorraine explores the profound influence of architecture and interior design on the ecology of the built environment. She prioritizes human-centric design, recognizing the interplay between physical spaces and the well-being of their occupants. Through principles of metaphysics, innovative design solutions, conscious material selection, digital advancements, and collaboration with environmental experts, she seeks to provide impactful design solutions that promote architecture for well-being.
Her approach is marked by a deep understanding of design response, local cultural vernacular, and the significance of client relationships, resulting in award-winning schemes across an extensive range of building typologies including mixed-use, retail, hospitality, gaming, office, residential, education, public, community, and transport.
